Warriors and Kaiser Team Up to 'Get Fit'

Oakland 1/22/15 -- The Golden State Warriors in partnership with Kaiser Permanente came to Oakland Unified Schools to bring the 'Get Fit' program where students pledge to 60 minutes of play a day. NBA Hall-of-Famer and Skyline grad Gary Payton, WNBA player Swin Cash and Warriors all-Star Stephen Curry were on hand to demonstrate the importance of exercise, nutrition and play.

The #7 Arizona Wildcats (18-2, 6-1 Pac-12) came to the Bay Area with a 1-2 punch.  First they won by a decision over Stanford, 89-82, down on the farm to start the trip.  Then traversed to Bear Territory and knocked-out the California Golden Bears 73-50 in front of a mixed house, where Wildcat fans made the presence known.

Arizona wingman Stanley Johnson helped the Wildcats topple the Stanford Cardinal 89-82 on the farm.  Six foot seven Johnson, only a freshman, is juggernaut Arizona’s leading scorer and rebounder so far this season, dropping 14.6 points and 6.8 boards. Tonight he had a team-high 19 points and 7 rebounds to pace 5 Wildcats who scored double figures.

Stephen Curry is living up to the accolades of being a leading MVP candidate.  In his 6th NBA season Curry is averaging 23 points (7th in the league) and 8 assists (5th) a game.  What is even more telling for the #7 draft pick from Davidson, is that he is first in steals at 2.2 a game. All that math and a penchant for controlling a game has made Curry a NBA shining star.

The Stanford Cardinal made their annual pilgrimage across the Bay to meet the California Golden Bears at Haas Pavilion.  Stanford battled back in the second half and held Cal to 32-percent shooting from the field to capture a 69-59 win. 

“This (win) means a lot, especially my senior year,” stated senior Chasson Randle. “We had to make sure we put a stamp on this place.  That is three in a row for us up here.

Oakland, Calif. 10/5/14 -- Klay Thompson made a huge impression this summer at the FIBA Basketball World Cup in Spain, as he helped Team USA win a gold medal. Thompson came of the bench, but was still the team's second leading scorer at 12.7 ppg., playing 23 minutes a game. His impact on an international level has catapulted his confidence as he starts his fourth NBA season for Golden State.

Palo Alto, Calif. 11/17/14 -- Stanford womens hoops tends to have great timing when it comes to defeating powerhouse Connecticut.  Tonight it was all about timing and Stanford used the clock to their advantage in the 88-86 upset of No. 1 UCONN on the farm.
